A Study on the Aesthetic Archetypes of Korean and Healing Meaning in Kim Hwan Ki's Art Works -Focusing on Jung's Analytical Psychology-

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out aesthetic archetypes of Korean and healing meaning in Kim's artwork from the perspective of Jung's analytic psychology. The scope of the study was to investigate the characteristic of art from Jung's viewpoint, how the archetypes of collective unconsciousness were portrayed in Kim's representative artwork. Also, this study showed why his artworks were in the spotlight and analyzed the healing meaning of his paintings. Three aesthetic archetypes of korean were proposed in his work. First, the culture of affection that emphasized emotional exchange and relationship showed by rough texture. Second, respecting the value of artless and naturalness. Third, value-oriented characteristic. Based on these three features, we discussed the healing meaning that we could get from art appreciation of artworks. Aesthetic experience was not only to share emotional archetypes embraced by the group but also perception on beauty of individual's subjective. Understanding the archetype symbols that appear in artworks meant we can share the collective value and universality of human spirit and those comprehension gave us a curative power. Therefore, The Understanding of Kim's art, which expressed Korean sentiment, has important value in terms of finding inherent archetypes image in Koreans and being able to apply to art therapy.
